Iconic movie and TV quotesAbout movies sounds
Cinematic sound is a genre of its own: the low brass hit that announces a trailer, the rising riser before a reveal, sci-fi door hisses, submarine klaxons, casino chips and card slides, eerie flute squeals from a horror score. This category collects the sound-design vocabulary of film and television, the kind of audio that instantly makes a clip feel like a movie moment even when it is a video of your cat.
To be clear about what this is not: we do not host dialogue or audio lifted from films and shows. Studios own that audio, and a "famous movie quote" soundboard is a takedown waiting to happen for the site and a copyright claim waiting to happen for anyone who uses it in a video. What you will find instead are original and free-licence recreations of the same feelings: impacts, stingers, ambiences and effects released under CC0 or public-domain terms, each with its source listed on the sound page.
These clips are especially useful for editors making parody trailers, reaction videos and short-form comedy where the joke is the over-dramatic sound design. Download the MP3, drop it on a track under your footage, and pull the level down a few decibels so it sits behind the voice rather than on top of it. The editing guide goes deeper on that. If you produce your own cinematic effects and want to share them, upload them and they will appear here once reviewed.
