About games sounds

Game audio is the most reusable sound design on the internet. A coin pickup, a level-up chime, a menu blip, a power-down, an eight-bit explosion: these clips carry meaning even to people who never played the game they came from, which is exactly why they work as meme sounds and stream alerts. This category collects retro-style effects, interface sounds, jumps, hits, pickups and short jingles that read as "video game" the moment you hear them.

Most of what is here comes from free game-asset packs released under CC0, including the well-known Kenney collections, and from public-domain archives. That matters if you are a developer or a streamer: CC0 means you can drop these into a commercial game, a Twitch alert or a YouTube video with no licence fee and no attribution requirement. Where a clip is CC BY instead, the sound page shows the author and source so you can credit them properly.

Streamers use this category more than anyone. A short pickup sound makes a good follower alert; a power-down or a game-over sting is the classic "I just died" button. If you want to trigger clips on a hotkey while you play, the OBS soundboard guide covers the setup in about ten minutes. Developers who need the raw files can use the download button on any sound page; every file is a plain MP3.
